For the past decade, Wada Farms has been growing red potatoes with proven success.
We have identified those varieties that provide consistent color, shape, and quality for the end consumer.
Red potatoes continue to be the second strongest category performer with over 23% dollar share among other potato varieties (Russets being at the top with almost 53%). Trends show red potatoes having steady growth with 2016 posting a 2.7% increase versus 2015 performance.
THE WADA ADVANTAGE
Our red potato program continues to increase in demand each year. We grow some of the best aesthetically and quality performing reds in the country. Since we grow the vast majority of our crop in the volcanic soils of Idaho, we are able to produce that darker red skin, delivering good shelf appeal at store level.
Appearance: Sizing can range from small to medium, round or slightly oblong in shape, and yield a smooth, thin skin with white flesh.
Texture: Velvety, moist, smooth, and creamy.
Flavor Profile: The thin, delicate red skin has a subtly sweet taste which is complemented by the earthy overtones of the potato flesh.
